As long as the current clientele is too stupid to notice the competition they should be able to limp along and hopefully survive. This doesn’t sound a very successful business model to me.Do they realize how shabby the entire customer experience at a Sears is compared to all of the ferocious competition out there? Probably not. If they did, you would think that they, the hedge fund managers and investors, would have felt a sense of either panic or impending doom. But aside from a precipitous decline in share price there is no other indication that things might be amiss–completely unaware in the parallel universe 99% of humanity lives in and where their company retails products, Sears and Penney’s have long been laughingly dismissed in the past tense.
